The University of Bridgeport has updated to Skype for Business (formerly Microsoft Communicator) in order to help facilitate quick, effective collaboration via instant message both within and between departments. Skype can also be used to send files, share your current computer screen, or help a colleague by remotely controlling their computer. Currently, our Skype for Business only works internally or over a VPN connection with a UB account, but this year we will be adding flexibility and enabling more features. Many departments are already utilising this software as Skype for Business is available for all employees and student workers, and most accounts already have access. If your department isn’t utilising Skype for Business yet but is interested, it is available through Software Center on all University owned machines. Anyone unsure of how to install or access Skype can put in a case with IT and our technicians will get you up and chatting with your co-workers in no time!
