Respondus

Respondus - University of Bridgeport Online Technology

Respondus LockDown Browser is a custom browser (similar to Chrome, Firefox, Safari, etc.) that locks down the testing environment within Canvas, so students are unable to print, copy, go to another URL, or access other applications. When an assessment is started, students are locked into it until they submit it for grading.

Respondus Monitor is a companion product for LockDown Browser that requires students to use a webcam to record themselves during an exam. Students can take the exam at any time of the day or night, and Respondus Monitor automatically flags students for suspicious behavior, such as leaving the computer during the exam, or a different person entering the video frame.

Watch the video overviews below to learn more about Respondus Lockdown Browser and Monitor:

Respondus must be accessed through a University of Bridgeport source, either using this link here or accessed through Canvas.

Faculty must enable Respondus for each quiz, requiring students to use Respondus Lockdown Browser (and Monitor, if enabled) to take the quiz.

Students must download & install Respondus before taking an exam. See tabs below for more information.

To install Respondus Lockdown Browser, you can download it here or navigate to the test that requires Lockdown Browser within your Canvas course, click on "Take The Quiz", then click on "Download Respondus LockDown Browser" to install the program. To take the test you MUST use Respondus Lockdown Browser and NOT use Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Edge, Safari, etc.
